Introduction

Welcome to KhetBook (the "App"), developed to help small and medium Indian farmers manage their agricultural operations, financial ledgers, and marketplace activities. Your privacy is of paramount importance to us. This Privacy Policy outlines our commitment to protecting your personal and agricultural data in compliance with the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, 2023 of India, as well as Google Play Store and Apple App Store guidelines.

Executive Summary

• Offline-First by Design: KhetBook stores your farm logs, expense ledgers, and transactions directly on your own device using a secure local SQLite database. By default, nothing is sent to our servers.
• Optional Cloud Synchronisation: You can opt in to sync records to the cloud (Firebase) to access them across multiple devices or share with family members or bookkeepers.
• No Commercial Data Monetisation: We never sell, rent, or trade your agricultural yields, transaction books, or personal information to third-party marketing companies, banks, or fertiliser/pesticide corporations.
• Location Privacy: We use location coordinates exclusively to fetch local weather updates and reverse-geocode village names. This data is processed in real time and is not tracked.

Information We Collect

Personal & Profile Information (Optional): Phone number (only if you choose OTP authentication for cloud sync); farm name, location (village, district, state), and mobile number for ledger PDF customisation.

Agricultural & Financial Records: All transactional data you enter is stored securely on your device — income/expense ledgers, service logs, crop diary entries, and scanned bill amounts (OCR processed entirely on-device).

Location Data: Used only in real time to fetch weather forecasts and your village name. Not stored or tracked.

Analytics: Anonymous crash reports via Firebase Crashlytics to improve stability. No personal farm data is included.

How We Use Your Information

• To provide offline farm management, ledger, and diary features
• To optionally sync your data across devices via Firebase
• To fetch live Mandi prices and localised weather forecasts
• To improve app performance and fix bugs
• To comply with applicable laws

Data Sharing

We do not sell your data. We use Firebase (Google) for optional cloud sync and authentication, Open-Meteo for weather forecasts, and AGMARKNET APIs for Mandi price data. Each is governed by their own privacy policies. Your raw farm financial data is never shared with any third party.

Data Retention

Local data is retained on your device until you delete it or uninstall the App. Cloud data (if sync is enabled) is retained until you delete your account. You can request full data deletion by contacting us.

Security

Your data is stored in a local encrypted SQLite database. Cloud sync uses HTTPS/TLS and Firebase security rules. Bill scanning (OCR) is processed entirely on-device — no document images are uploaded to external servers.

Children's Privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated via an in-app notice. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
